A Day in the Life
Daily Room Schedules
Note: This schedule evolves over the course of the school year. The students in this class have plenty of time to get used to the regular schedule in the fall before the extra activities begin.
Room 2
7:30–8:30 am: Early arrivals/free play in Room 4
8:30 am: Arrival/Free play time
9:15 am: Parents begin good-byes
9–9:30 am: Diaper check time
9:45–10 am: Transition time/Wash hands/Prepare for snack
10–10:15 am: Snack
10:15–11 am: Children are divided into two groups for 5 minutes of indoor/outdoor activities or table activities.
11 am: Diaper check (1st group)
11:15–11:30 am: Clean up time
11:20 am: Art class/Sensory Motor Room/Music class for one group each week
11:30 am: Diaper check (2nd group)
11:45 am–12 pm: Transition time/Put out beds/Set up lunch/Wash hands
12 pm: Lunch
12:30 pm: Children who are not napping at school are walked out to the lobby to meet parents
12:45 pm: Nap time
2:10–2:40 pm: Wake up time
2:40–3 pm: Diaper check/Wash hands
3:15–3:45 pm: Art activities/Free play time inside
3:45 pm: Clean up time
4–4:30 pm: Free play outside
4:30 pm: Walk late pick-up children to Room 3/Big playground
Room 3
7:30–8:30 am: Early arrivals/free play in Room 4
8:30–9:15 am: Arrivals and good-byes in Room 3/Free play
9:30 am: Clean up and Circle time
10–10:15 am: Snack
10:15–10:40 am: First group inside for art/other activities. Second group outside for free play.
Tuesday – Art Room/Sensory Motor Room
Wednesday – Music Class at 10 am and 10:30 am
Thursday – Trapeze Arts every third week
10:40–11 am: Both groups outside
11–11:40 am: Second group inside for art/other activities
11:40 am: Both groups outside for free play
12 pm: Lunch
12:30 pm: Bathroom and nap time. Pick-up time for half-day children.
2–2:45 pm: Wake up, bathroom and quiet table activities.
3–3:30 pm: Snack
3:30 pm: Free play/Special activities/Books and games. Groups may split – one in classroom and one in Multi-Purpose Room.
4 pm: Clean-up and outside time. (many children leave at 4:30 pm.)
5:30 pm: School day ends
Room 4
7:30–8:30 am: All children who arrive for early care are dropped off in Room 4.
8:30–9 am: Good Mornings and Goodbyes (finished no later than 9 AM)
9–9:30 am: Free choice time
9:35 am: Clean up
9:45 am: Morning Meeting/Storytime
10 am: Snack
10:20 am: Small group time – Art/Science/Literacy
11 am: Small group time – Gross motor activities
11:40 am: Outside Play
12 pm: Lunch
12:30 pm: *Early pick-up/Getting settled for rest time
12:45 pm: Audio story/Music
1 pm: Nap/Rest time
1:30 pm: Quiet table activities
2:30 pm: *Wake up/Transition
3 pm* Snack
3:30 pm* Story/Circle/Games
4 pm* Outside Activities
4:30 pm: *Pick up/Join other classes
5:30 pm: *Everyone home
*Optimal pick-up times if leaving early
Wednesdays – Music at 9 AM and 9:30 am
Trapeze Arts every 3rd Thursday at 9:30 AM and 10:15 AM
Room 5
7:30–8:30 am: Early arrivals/free play in Room 4
8:30 am: Greetings/Free Choice
10 am: Clean up/Prepare for Snack
10:15 am: Snacks and Conversation
10:30 am: Circle Time
11–11:30 am: Group I in classroom, Group II outside
11:30 am-12 noon: Group II in classroom and Group I outside
11:45 am: Prepare for lunch; small group helps teacher set up mats and lunch tables
12 pm: Lunch
12:30 pm: Prepare for nap – bathroom and settling on mats
12:45 pm: Rest and relaxation (Children who do not nap will be encouraged to read quietly on their mats).
1:45 pm: Non-nappers can go to tables for quiet activities
3 pm: Snack and Free choice
4 pm: After classroom and playground are cleaned up, this class joins the whole school on upper playgroup for pick-up.
Children staying until 5 pm or later stay in a mixed-age group with two teachers.
Music with Annette on Wednesdays from 11 – 11:45 am
